The steel rectangular head Japanese Hammer from Dogyu is commonly used for hammering nails.
Dogyu hammers owe their great popularity in Japan to a few basic principles; excellent quality, competitive pricing and exclusively made in Japan since 1908.
Attention to detail and a combination of time tested technology with the latest techniques makes one of the simplest tools a little more than just another blunt instrument.
A hammer with a long, rectangular head, it is commonly used for hammering nails. One face is flat and the other face is slightly curved, called the "kigoroshi-men". This curved face is used to drive a nail into the wood without damaging the surrounding surface. When a joint is tight while putting together a joinery structure, the curved face of the hammer can be used to pound out and shrink the joint. The pounded wood joint later will re-expand to the original thickness after it has been connected.
