When a woodworker and skateboard enthusiast ("2ndlife") glues together discarded skateboards to create blanks for chisel books, it sounds strange at first. But the result is absolutely unique and worth seeing! The name for this chisel set was inspired by the old skater motto Skateboarding is not a crime": "Woodworking Is Not A Crime".

TECHNICAL DATA

  • Blades made from special tool steel (+/- HRc 61)
  • Handles made from skateboard decks glued, oiled
  • Wood: Canadian sycamore maple
  • Cutting edge angle: 25°
  • Cutting edge width: 10 | 16 | 20 | 26 mm
  • Sides bevelled

FEATURES AND ADVANTAGES

  • Hand-forged blades for improved material structure.
  • Only high-carbon steels are used for the blades
  • Heat-treated in a salt bath for a hardness of approx. 61 Rockwell.
  • Hardened over the entire usable length of the blade (approx. 2/3).
  • Polished, groove-free surface for smooth cutting and easy plunging.
  • Blade with side bevels to make it easier to work close to the edge.
  • For a razor-sharp finish, the cutting edge should be honed before first use.
  • Blades should be wiped with an oil cloth after use to prevent corrosion.
  • The handles are glued and turned from discarded skateboard decks.
  • Each handle is unique in its striped design.
  • The handle comes with an oil finish for a pleasant feel (not varnished!).
  • "Upcycling deluxe!" → thanks to the raw material for the handles, new, sustainable handles are created.
  • Cutting angle of 25° and therefore ideal for soft to medium-hard woods.
  • For hard woods, we recommend grinding a cutting edge angle of 28 - 30°.
  • Note: Wooden handles are without clamps on the hammer knob. However, gentle driving with the mallet is possible.
  • The scope of delivery includes a high-quality gym bag with the inscription Woodworking is not a crime".

Our warehouse is based in Nelson, New Zealand and all transactions are charged in New Zealand dollars. All shipping is charged at $NZD10 non rural and $NZD14 rural including GST for shipping anywhere within New Zealand excluding Great Barrier Island, Waiheke island, Chatham islands, d'Urville Island and Stewart Island.

All goods from a single order will be shipped together. If several orders have been made on the same day, by the same person, to the same delivery address, we will do our best to combine those orders into one shipment unless otherwise instructed.

Shipping is free of charge within New Zealand for all overs $450NZD excluding some Hikoki, Mafell, Tormek, Tanos, Metabo and Veto Pro Pac products. Free shipping is excluding Waiheke Island, Great Barrier Island, Chatham islands, d'Urville Island and Stewart Island.
