The Sharpshooter is a specialized chisel plane built for the cuts other tools can't make. Unlike traditional planes, it has no body ahead of the cutting iron — the blade itself forms the absolute front and bottom edge of the tool. The result is a hybrid instrument, part chisel, part low-angle block plane, engineered for one purpose: getting into places conventional planes simply can't reach.
At its core is a spearpoint blade set at less than 45 degrees, with the following advantages:
- Cleaner cuts on end grain — the low angle slices through fibers rather than tearing them, leaving a smoother finish where grain direction would otherwise cause chipping.
- Less resistance, less effort — a lower angle requires less downward force to pare material, making fine adjustments easier to control.
- Precision in tight spaces — the spearpoint geometry lets the blade access sharp inside corners and flush details that a standard straight-edge blade can't reach.
- Versatility across grain types — effective whether you're working with end grain, cross grain, or awkward transitional surfaces.
The Sharpshooter is delivered razor-sharp, dead flat, and ready to use.
⚠️ Caution: the blade is extremely sharp. Handle with care.
Before first use: the blade must be detached from the handle to remove the factory protective wax coating. Wipe it down with a rag soaked in mineral spirits or WD-40, let the solvent dissolve the residue, then scrub gently with a non-woven pad. To protect the blade from rust going forward, apply camellia oil or a similar rust-preventative oil.

Our warehouse is based in Nelson, New Zealand, and all transactions are charged in New Zealand dollars.
Shipping within New Zealand is charged at NZD $15 (non-rural) or NZD $17 (rural), including GST, for most products (some exceptions apply). This excludes Great Barrier Island, Waiheke Island, the Chatham Islands, D'Urville Island, and Stewart Island.
All items from a single order will be shipped together. If multiple orders are placed on the same day, by the same person, to the same delivery address, we will do our best to combine them into one shipment, unless otherwise instructed.
